Naming, Brand Messaging & Website | Created the name for a new kind of strategy and consulting group that uses business intelligence and data analytics to help nonprofit organizations make better decisions, faster.
The founders of Room40 Group offer two things that nonprofit organizations facing growth and change need: insights that come from real business data and knowhow that comes from having served as C-level executives themselves. The group also offers things that are unexpected from a consulting organization with such a strong pedigree: great working relationships with clients and a sense of humor.
As the partners set out to create their new company, they wanted a name that captured the rigor of their approach with its focus on finding patterns in data and using those insights to help nonprofits succeed. They also wanted a name that was a little geeky and intriguing, had some personality, and told a story.
We explored naming options that drew inspiration from Chinese folklore and symbolism, pattern languages in architecture, and Alexander Graham Bell’s laboratory. Ultimately, we selected the name Room40 Group. The name is inspired by a real place where British cryptanalysts worked together to break German codes during World War I.
After a successful naming launch for the company, we worked together to develop a messaging platform and a new website.
